Aguas Verdes

On the return drive from Abra Patricia back to Tarapoto, we stopped off at the village of Aguas Verdes where there is a small private reserve with hummingbird feeders, where we expected to be able to find three uncommon species that we had not yet seen, Green-fronted Lancebill and Blue-fronted Lancebill, and Zimmer's Antbird. We were successful on all three, although I was less than successful in photography.

Aguas Verdes
Aguas Verdes is a pretty typical little town. During the recent political campaign, the parties must have agreed to paint peoples' houses for free if they could use campaign slogans because everywhere we went, we saw houses painted political poster style.

Our guide rounded up a boy to escort us and we headed out of town.

Until we came to a nice little garden packed with hummingbird feeders and with a handy viewing platform.
Blue-fronted Lancebill
Blue-fronted Lancebill was the only bird that I got a decent photo of here.
