In Anchorage, Red-necked Grebes are park birds like Mallards, nesting in plain sight
Our one Horned Grebe was near Fairbanks. Except for the red eye, completely different colors from the winter plumage we're used to seeing them in.
A couple of Solitary Sandpipers were around Fairbanks
Long-tailed Jaegers were along the Denali Highway

These Cliff Swallows are gathering mud for nests
Gray-cheeked Thrushes sang from exposed perches, this one along the Denali Highway. Just not the way we're used to seeing them in North Carolina!
All the Dark-eyed Juncos were Slate-colored.
