Northern Fulmar at St. Paul

A few Northern Fulmars were among the cliff-nesting seabirds. Note the tubular nostrils that give the tubenoses their name. Fulmars spit a foul-smelling yellow or orangish stomach oil as a defense against predators; that may account for the color on the bird at left.
